The Hall Markets, held the first Sunday of every month (except January),
are supported and managed by Hartley Lifecare—as they have been for
more than 20 years.
From its humble beginnings, with just 36 stalls
and a 20-cent entry fee, the Hall Markets is now one of Australia’s
largest home-made and home-grown goods markets.
Since the first gathering
in 1987 thousands of people have made visiting the Hall Markets a
family tradition. Between 250 and 300 stalls on average display their
wares each month and some original stallholders are still going strong.
In
line with its ‘rural’ theme, the markets are held at the picturesque
Hall Village Showground, only a few minutes from Canberra City.
Friendly
and full of bargains, the Hall Markets offers the best of fresh produced,
baked goods, plants, furniture, clothing, pottery, jewellery, children’s
toys, crafts, unique gifts, and more. Barbeques, a canteen, live
music and other entertainment makes each visit a fun, family day
out.
The Hall Markets are organised by Hartley Lifecare and supported by
a large number of volunteers who help set the markets up, run them
through the day and then pack down and clean up.
Entry is by gold
coin donation. All proceeds go to Hartley Lifecare.
The
Hall Markets are held from 10am to 3pm, the first Sunday of every
month except January.
