Our Board

Chair - Darren Box

Darren is an experienced Chief Financial & Operations Officer across many organisations and Commonwealth Government Departments. He joined the Hartley Board in January 2019. Darren has significant experience in the public sector, having worked as a senior officer in various roles across government departments. He has served as a member on a number of audit committees and feels privileged to support the Hartley team.
Deputy Chair -Peter Brown

Peter is a manager in the Australian Government Attorney-General's Department. Prior to this, he was a police officer for 18 years with the Victorian Police, resigning as an Inspector. Peter is active in the disability sector and heavily involved with Sailability ACT. Peter's daughter is a client of Hartley's.

Member - Jenni Vincent

Jenni has worked for various Commonwealth and ACT Government departments and began working as an IT consultant in 2000. Jenni is also a former Board member with Advocacy for Inclusion. Her focus is on improving life opportunities and care for people with disability.

Member -Benjamin Battisson

Benjamin is the principal of nossittaB Consulting. He has a rare combination of public, private, and not-for-profit experience acquired over 20 years working within government, as well as consulting to public and private sector organisations and serving in other roles within community organisations. Benjamin is supporting Hartley to help build the management and leadership capability of its staff.

Member - Tony Lo Pilato

Anthony (Tony) Lo Pilato was born in Canberra and is a long term local resident. Tony is a Chartered Accountant and brings his wealth of financial and accounting knowledge to the Hartley Board.

Member - Mirinda Lawrence

Sue is an experienced Chief Counsel and Chief Operating Officer with over 25 years of leadership experience in the Commonwealth Government and the private sector. She is the Principal of Sue Bird Consulting and is a member of several government program steering committees as well as risk and audit committees. Sue is excited to be part of the Board supporting the Hartley team and contributing to the local disability community.

Member - Hedley Middlebrook

Headley joined the Hartley Lifecare Board in April 2023, bringing with him a wealth of experience in the IT services industry spanning 17 years. Prior to his work in the IT sector, Headley dedicated his efforts to the non-profit sector. Since 2006, Headly has been actively engaged with Hartley, and his commitment to the Hartley cause is deeply rooted.

Member - Sue Bird 

Mirinda has a background in nursing administration, consulting, and teaching in various countries. She had a private practice in Canberra before retiring. Mirinda has been active in the disability sector and brings lived experience to the Board, as her son lives in a shared house supported by Hartley.
